I feel that By the Bridge is very supportive of its Foster Parents, but also we are treated as professionals and earn a professional wage – this is a career to us, and therefore these things are important too. By the Bridge are centred on what is best for the children and for the foster families, and I think that this shines through in all of the wonderful achievements that happen so often. By the Bridge foster parents come from all walks of life and bring a wide range of experience to caring for children from all types of backgrounds.
The staff team of By the Bridge are amongst the most experienced people working in fostering. Because we have direct experience of fostering children, adoption or providing therapeutic childcare, we know what it takes to foster and can therefore better meet foster parents’ expectations and needs.
Fundamental to our philosophy is that we provide significant training, supervision, groups, activities, career opportunity, out of hours help, extra allowances, advisors… services our foster parents can benefit from in order to keep themselves in good shape as the key professionals in the relationship with the child. We are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
