About By the Bridge
By the Bridge is an independent fostering organisation providing high quality foster care and services to children and their foster families. Our role is to work with local authorities to recruit, train and guide foster families in looking after children and young people who cannot live with their own families for all kind of reasons.
Because we were founded by foster parents, and many of our employees have direct experience of fostering or providing therapeutic care to children, we have a real heritage and understanding of the work. We know that fostering is a sophisticated task requiring specialist skills and have developed a model to create a therapeutic home environment, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in which our fostered children can fulfil their potential. We believe the relationship between foster parent and child is the therapeutic intervention.
At By the Bridge we keep children and young people at the centre of what we do. Our creative approach to fostering earned us OUTSTANDING in all six areas of our latest OFSTED inspection. We have long standing relationships working alongside local authorities and within government frameworks. We have embraced the Government initiative Every Child Matters.
