We’re extremely proud to share that one of our young people has taken it upon herself to donate her hair to a charity which provides real hair wigs for children suffering with hair loss.

16-year-old Alice*, who has spent the last couple of years growing her beautiful locks, had an astounding 17 inches of hair cut off to donate to The Little Princess Trust.

She said: “I have been growing my hair for a long time, and I felt like a change of style. As I no longer wanted my hair long and there was so much of it, I thought it would be nice if I donated it to someone that needed it. My carer helped me to find Little Princess Trust, and I liked what they do for children with hair loss so I chose them to donate to. I love my new hair style and that I could bring happiness to someone else with the hair I donated.”

The Little Princess Trust are a UK based organisation who provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults up to the age of 24, who have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses. In addition to this, in partnership with CCLG (Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group) they also fund research into childhood cancers.

By the Bridge Eastern Regional Manager, Sharon Eves, said: This is such an incredible gesture by an amazing young lady, who has demonstrated such thoughtfulness for other individuals. Alice’s Foster Parents and ourselves, as an organisation, are extremely proud of her. She has grown into a confident and caring young lady who is an inspiration to us all."

Alice has received a certificate from the charity who have sent their personal thanks and said they are “truly honoured and humbled” to have received her hair donation.
