It was a joyous day for our South East region on Tuesday 14 January, as By the Bridge Foster Parents and staff [pictured above] celebrated completing their Certificate in Therapeutic Fostering.

Alongside our seven amazing Foster Parents, all of whom were from our Kent branch, were also two members of staff from By the Bridge who completed the certificate. Caroline Hallett (Education, Participation and Achievements Manager) and Kelly Donaldson (Thames Valley Regional Therapist) were also presented with their certificates and celebrated alongside our Foster Parents and former Assistant Head of Therapeutic Services, Lesley Finney, who supported them over the course of the year.

The one year course, which is delivered by By the Bridge (and accredited through the University of Greenwich) covers therapeutic theories combined with social work ideas to help understand why children and others do what they do; and how adults can help. Students of the course get to know their own sensitive spots, and boost their resilience – all within the particular context of fostering.

This marks the final Certificate of Therapeutic Fostering being offered by By the Bridge which will be replaced with an exciting new course in 2020.

Huge congratulations once again to our hard-working and dedicated Foster Parents and staff, all who can be confident in the knowledge that they are able to provide the best therapeutic outcomes for our children and young people.
