By the Bridge are absolutely delighted to share the fantastic achievement of one of our Foster Parents, Teresa Affleck, from our Eastern region.

Teresa has been awarded the “Foster Carer Achievement Award for outstanding commitment, effort and continuous contribution, providing foster care accommodation and support to young people who are preparing to leave care” by Learn 2 Live Team Achievement Awards 2018.

Teresa and her late husband, Les, were approved with us in August 2006 and is the epitome of a therapeutic Foster Parent, genuinely going above and beyond for the young people in her care.

Jack*, who was placed with her family in August 2008, has made such tremendous progress under the care of Teresa, growing into a confident individual who has aspirations for his future and has achieved so much during the time he has been living with her family.

Upon receiving this fantastic accolade, Teresa said: “Many thanks for the support I have received from By the Bridge over the past twelve years. It takes all of us to be there for these children and young people, not just us Foster Parents.”

Eastern Regional Manager, Sharon Eves said: “We’re extremely proud of Teresa and look forward to continuing to work alongside her helping to change and improve the lives of children and young people.”
