We are the best Support and Training

At By the Bridge we provide a range of outstanding training and support to benefit you and the development of children of all ages. We want you to feel secure and confident in your work, as well as valuing the whole family. It's all about strengthening relationships and building a team we're all proud to be a part of, providing young people with positive experiences with living with a family.

Training

Whether you want to gain new qualifications or be trained to enhance your fostering skills further, our training will help you build on the qualities, skills and life experiences you already have.

We offer more training than any other provider. Each year (on top of mandatory training) we offer more than 20 courses that are essential and relevant learning, many new courses, run by knowledgeable and friendly people that are leaders in their field or have experience of fostering.

You will also have the option to study for recognised academic qualifications, resulting in higher pay promotion too.

Our therapeutic training results in positive outcomes for many children in our care and makes our Foster Parents highly demanded. Children fostered with us stay in education longer and do better academically than children fostered in other settings.

Support

People are at the heart of everything that By the Bridge is a priority for us to look after all our children, Foster Parents and staff alike. We'll be there for you 365 days, 24/7 so you are never on your own with a problem. Our dedicated team are always on hand or a call away - no matter what, night or day.

Our offices are one big community. Our Foster Parents are encouraged to meet regularly at the local office, to learn from each other, build friendships share experiences and support each other. It’s like being part of one big family and what makes By the Bridge so special.

We organise lots of activities throughout the year for families, foster children and birth children to all take part in. From festive parties, days out to theme parks, and trips to the pantomime.

It’s about valuing the whole family; strengthening relationships and building a team were all proud to be a part of providing young people with positive experiences with living with a family

Support for Foster Children

We want to encourage young people to get the skills they need for a better future and encourage them to achieve more than they thought was possible. And that’s what we do. Not just education, but in class and through valuable real-world experiences and dedicated staff.

Fostering Offices

 Testimonial Image

Our local offices and countryside locations are carefully chosen and decorated with bright colours, pictures and plants. So everyone experiences a sense of care, value and ‘a homely’ feel when they come to work or visit. We aim to create an environment where people feel valued and can grow, develop and achieve their goals.

The government has generous tax allowances in place for those who foster and this means that you will pay little or no tax, depending on how many children you care for. Typically a new foster parent could earn £22,157* a year, tax-free, fostering one child (that's the equivalent of a £27,923* taxed salary)
