We are Great Pay and Allowances
Fostering is way of life and a career that is dynamic and interesting work. We treat Foster Parents as professionals and it is important that Foster Parents are given financial payments that cover the costs of caring for children or young people aswell as a professional fee for their work. This will enable you to commit to foster parenting as a full-time career whilst working from your own home.
The fees we pay Foster Parents vary according to the type of fostering you do. You’ll receive an excellent weekly pay for each foster child.
The fees we pay to our Foster Parents vary according to the type of fostering you do. You’ll receive an excellent weekly pay for each foster child. Typically a Foster Parent could earn £23,400* a year, tax free, fostering one child (that's the equivalent of a £29,440* taxed salary).
*Based on one child in place for 52 weeks in the 2018/19 tax year
With By the Bridge, you’ll also receive generous allowances to help towards all the added costs of looking after children: travel, clothing, equipment, festive gifts and extra to enable you to take foster children on holidays with you. Many of these allowances are exclusive to us – which many other fostering providers do not.
The government has generous tax allowances for Foster Parents. This means that you will pay little or no tax. Usually a Foster Parent with one or two foster children will pay no tax.
As our Foster Parents develop their skills through training, supervision and their day to day fostering work they can reach the criteria for achieving higher pay grades.
Benefits and Rewards
We also deliver a range of benefits in addition to your professional fee and allowances:
- Membership of Foster Talk - a package of support, advice and benefits
- ‘Red Letter Day' and monetary rewards to show our recognition and appreciation of the important work of fostering
- A generous Refer-a-Friend reward for introducing others to foster with us
Fostering is hugely rewarding, but we understand that Foster Parents need to recharge their batteries. Respite is the opportunity to take regular paid breaks. We provide up to 21 nights paid respite per year.
