Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday

 

 

Role Purpose:

 

By the Bridge have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Practice Manager. In this role, we are looking for a qualified social worker who is passionate about helping people to learn and grow.

 

As a Practice Manager you will help our staff, contractors and fostering families to develop and advance their skills and knowledge. You will help us to succeed by training and developing different staffing groups by delivering learning and development opportunities throughout the organisation, to the workforce and fostering families.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure that By the Bridge with Cambian are meeting the expected indicators set out in the Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards through the implementation of suitable training and development programmes.
  • Assess and evaluate the process and procedures which support the L&D of the workforce, such as supervision, appraisal and performance management include this within the workforce strategy. Work alongside BtB’s HR business partner to develop the strategy.
  • Create and ensure upto date workforce development and training programmes that are aligned with the both the workforce strategy and the organisation’s objectives and having a strong understanding of what these are.
  • Acting as the go to within the business for anyone with questions or queries regarding workforce training and development plans. Support outcome focussed care and support practice.
  • Provide support to the Registered Managers and Managing Director to prepare for registration and supporting knowledge/role of responsible individuals.
  • Execute learning strategies and programs; design and deliver courses, workshops and other trainings curriculums, embracing different styles of training techniques, including e-learning, tutorial sessions or coaching
  • Participate and support with quality functions as agreed, such as undertaking audits, observations and QI visits.
  • Enable the workforce to meet regulatory requirements for qualifications and/or registration by supporting  social workers to meet the expectations of their registrations for the role and development pathways to ensure that newly qualified social workers maintain their registrations, enhanced for the first 3 years in practice and high level for those post 3 years with pathways to senior practitioner and regional manager jobs. 
  • Help managers develop their team members through career pathing.
  • Awareness of the allocated budget and an ability to find solutions in order to implement the required training, tracking budgets and negotiate contracts.
  • Supervise external L&D providers with responsibility for all training to ensure a consistent L&D approach.

Role Objectives:

 

  • To identify the specific workforce issues in the short/medium and long term for By the Bridge with Cambian. Support the regions and separate registrations to deliver the priorities of Workforce Strategy.
  • Provide analytical reports as to the workforce’s strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats.
  • Develop an extensive catalogue of social care training modules. These modules can be used as introductions, refreshers or as part of a blended approach to advanced learning.
  • Develop and deliver live training presentations i.e. e-learning webinars to be effectively used for the organisation, to include; in-house on-boarding for the staff and other internal and external workforce responsibilities.
  • To respond to workforce initiatives such as the apprentice scheme for care experienced adults, and to explore apprenticeship opportunities. To support the hosting of students and practice learning.
  • Facilitate and lead in the delivery of champion groups; at least three of these a year to ensure learning is embedded from the other groups organisationally wide.
  • Undertake the role of agency decision maker in relation to annual reviews for foster carers.
  • Undertake the role of agency decision maker in relation to prospective foster carers recommended by the agency’s panel.

Person Specification:

 

  • Management, development and talent training
  • Registered social worker with Social Work England
  • Designing and supplying a variety of training styles
  • Building relationships with external suppliers
  • Managing people and budgets 
  • Qualified to degree, CIPD or CTP level or equivalent
  • Confident in both written and spoken communication with the ability to present to large audiences
  • Organisational skills
  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices
  • Ability to build rapport with employees and vendors
  • practice teaching award, post qualification award (Desirable)

 

 

Professional development:

 

  • The role holder will need to demonstrate awareness of relevant legal frameworks and legislation, taking personal responsibility for keeping this knowledge up to date to increase credibility
  • They should also take personal responsibility for sharing and maintaining a sound knowledge and understanding of current developments within the field, which demonstrates sufficient expertise to maintain registration as a Social Worker or with the relevant professional body.

 

Safeguarding Children is central to all that By the Bridge with Cambian does. Although the Practice Manager role is not primarily one where contact with children is involved there may be occasions, either through seeing situations with a fresh pair of eyes; reading information in a report or by receiving information in any other way that an administrator may have concerns regarding the welfare of a child. (There are occasions for example where specific children may develop a good rapport with the Practice Manager through the child visiting the branch office). In any situation where the Branch Co-ordinator has concerns for a child’s well-being they must follow the reporting procedure of By the Bridge with Cambian. The Practice Managerwill be required to undertake mandatory online training within their induction period.
