Foster Parent Support

As someone who is already a Foster Parent, you will understand the importance of the support you recieve from your fostering organisation. We pride ourselves on being available on the phone for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. So if you have a problem, or just want to chat then we are available to talk to you.  We pride ourselves on offering an outstanding level of support to families - so that we can support you and let you focus on the young person in your care.

Foster Parent Training

We want you to develop skills and knowledge while you’re a Foster Parent, and feel secure and confident in your work. You'll have opportunities available to do as much training and development as you would like (after the initial mandatory training). We also offer a tiered pay system which means that after successfully completing various areas of training we are able to increase the professional fees you receive.

Careful matching and Breaks

We make sure the individual needs of the children and young people looking for homes are a good fit with your skills, personal situation and experience. Being a Foster Parent can be tiring, so we provide up to 21 nights paid respite per year. Respite is the opportunity to take regular paid breaks where other foster parents look after your foster child. We understand that foster families need to recharge their batteries, so provide the opportunity for you to do exactly that.

Local Support and Social Events

We encourage our Foster Parents to meet regularly to build friendships, share experiences and support each other. We don’t forget the fun stuff either - we arrange loads of activities and events for you, your foster children and your own family to all take part in. Craft afternoons, summer fun days and outings, Christmas parties and other seasonal events.

This is to provide positive experiences for foster children living within a family and building the team that we’re all proud to be a part of.

An Experienced Team

The teams at By the Bridge are made up of experienced people, Foster Parents and staff alike. Many staff have been in your shoes as Foster Parents ourselves, so we really understand what you need from us! You’ll have a local team that will check in with you regularly to help you anticipate and avoid difficulties, recognise your successes and make sure that everything that needs to be done to support you.

If By the Bridge with Cambian seems like the type of organisation you would like to foster with then Contact Us for more information to begin your fostering journey.
