Certificate in Therapeutic fostering

Central to our approach is to promote the professionalism of our foster parents. We know that fostering is a sophisticated task requiring high levels of commitment and skilled communication.

All By the Bridge families are distinguished by having committed to therapeutic fostering as a profession. In addition to ongoing courses and training, our foster parents have the opportunity to enrol in a unique degree level Certificate in Therapeutic Fostering which is credit rated by the University of Greenwich.

The Certificate in Therapeutic Fostering is a one year course covering Transactional Analysis theories combined with social work ideas to help understand why children and others do what they do; and how to help. Using yourself as a barometer for what’s going on; and as a tool for skilled and insightful intervention. Knowing your own sensitive spots and boosting your resilience…all within the particular context of fostering.

The University of Greenwich credit rates this programme for 60 credits at academic level 3. When taught by a tutor with the required qualification it is also recognised as a year of Transactional Analysis psychotherapy or counselling training and counts towards the professional qualification. The credits can be used as pathway into an MA programme even with no prior qualifications.
