Testimonials from Independent Reviewing Officers
“…. I feel there is a real difference in the standard (of By the Bridge families) I have visited. (The foster parents) really seem to care about the young people, as do the Link Workers. The way challenging behaviours are viewed appears different in that it seems to be a real team challenge rather than (the foster parent’s) ‘problem’.
I applaud you reports which are really easy to read and include the young person’s views really well. Also (the foster parents) are all so supportive about (By the Bridge) which I don’t see very often, if at all, and there are innovative training and therapeutic plans coming from the company that I don’t see from any other source. I was also very impressed to see your new Team Manager at a review! I’ve never seen that before, some agencies don’t bother to send anyone.
It is so refreshing to encounter staff that are enjoying their work and are enthusiastic and supportive.”

There is an excellent working arrangement between the Social Worker, foster carers and Link workers and I find that each review I chair all concerns and recommendations have been worked through and actioned.
The quality of the foster carers is excellent. I find them highly receptive to advice and guidance provided by all concerned and extremely warm and caring toward all three children. Additionally the foster carers have high expectations for the children and are pro-active in the children’s education development with one of the children having already passed the 11 plus and another being prepared to sit the said exam. It should also be noted how well the children’s culture and ethnicity is explored and promoted by the carers.
When there has been a significant difficulty I have been assured by the Social Worker and the response from BTB staff that the matter is being dealt within accordingly including referring the matter out to local statutory services demonstrating a clear understanding of the required safeguarding processes.
In summary, I believe that I personally have an excellent working relationship with BTB, the children are receiving an excellent level of care, and that their care plans are managed to a very high standard and I cannot recall any matter raised by the Social Worker or myself within the LAC review process that was not responded to by BTB.

“I was very impressed by the ‘Get a Lifestyle’ programme and what it could potentially offer (the young person). It appears to not only encourage and promote educational abilities/achievements but looks to tailor a package in order to promote their emotional and social development. It is refreshing to hear that a young person’s interests, no matter how diverse, are supported and work is undertaken to find appropriate courses/activities for them to attend. This allows the young person to express themselves in a variety of ways and build their confidence and life skills.”
