I feel there is a real difference in the standard (of By the Bridge families) I have visited. (The foster parents) really seem to care about the young people, as do the Link Workers. The way challenging behaviours are viewed appears different in that it seems to be a real team challenge rather than (the foster parent’s) ‘problem’.

Our expertise of fostering hard to place children, the professionalism of foster families and staff and the application of our therapeutic philosophy all combine well with the social workers’ own desire to achieve the best outcomes for the children they place in our care. We recognise that fostering sits within the framework of social work but is a distinct and separate profession.

At By the Bridge we provide extensive training and supervision programmes to foster parents which are designed to ensure that they maintain the emotional capacity and energy to parent with sensitivity and provide the structure and stability necessary for the healthy development of the children in their care.
We aim to provide excellence in everything we do and we set our standards high. We have been awarded OUSTANDING in all six areas of Ofsted inspection in 2008 and we achieved ISO9001 accreditation in 2009.
