By the Bridge looks specifically for families who have the energy, commitment and learning capacity to develop a professional career in therapeutic fostering. Applicants are encouraged from diverse background and life experiences.
We want people who are physically healthy, emotionally mature and who are in stable relationships. We need people who have the physical space in their home. Gay couples, lesbian couples and single people as well as those of minority ethnic heritage are all considered as potential foster parents.
Our active recruitment department is carefully and methodically adding new By the Bridge families in all regions (South East, East, London and Midlands), providing they have been able to pass our rigorous screening, training and assessment processes.
Applying to foster a child or choosing to work for a different organisation are major life decisions. By the Bridge therefore requires detailed personal information before inviting families to be trained and assessed.
We are fully aware of the sensitive nature of this information and treat it with the strictest confidence. We do not proceed with personal or professional references until the applicant has made a final commitment during the assessment process.
