Recruitment process

Foster families’ recruitment consists of a two step process

  1. Pre selection
    • Applicants are invited to attend an introductory presentation
    • Complete the application form
    • Initial assessment of the suitability of their personal and family circumstances.
    • Statutory and optional checks, including Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau screening, medical examination, local authority checks, NSPCC checks, home health & safety inspections, credit checks
    • Attend a 3 day training course
  2. Selection & Approval
    • Selection based on training performance and results of checks
    • Further in depth assessment – this will include a number of home visits, extended analysis and discussions
    • Presentation of the assessment report to a By the Bridge panel. The  applicant is expected to attend the panel meeting
    • Approval decision is taken based on recommendations made by the panel
