Recruitment process
Foster families’ recruitment consists of a two step process
- Pre selection
- Applicants are invited to attend an introductory presentation
- Complete the application form
- Initial assessment of the suitability of their personal and family circumstances.
- Statutory and optional checks, including Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau screening, medical examination, local authority checks, NSPCC checks, home health & safety inspections, credit checks
- Attend a 3 day training course
- Selection & Approval
- Selection based on training performance and results of checks
- Further in depth assessment – this will include a number of home visits, extended analysis and discussions
- Presentation of the assessment report to a By the Bridge panel. The applicant is expected to attend the panel meeting
- Approval decision is taken based on recommendations made by the panel
