Fostered Children

By the Bridge is a foster care organisation that finds families for young people who cannot live with their own families. The staff team of By the Bridge are amongst the most experienced people working in fostering and we work to give our young people the best possible chances to be happy and successful in what matters to them. We look after children and young people aged 0-18+ and have different opportunities for children under and over 12 years old.
Children and young people sometimes live with their foster family for a very short time, or sometimes until they are grown up. By the Bridge foster parents have been trained to show young people how to find useful ways of getting what they need.
Our work is focused on offering children and young people the opportunities to:
- Live in a family and feel happy and safe
- Do well at school
- Try new things
- Have fun and make friends
- Stay in touch with people important to them
Written by Alison It was October 2009, There was Kay and Annabelle from By the Bridge, Louise, Phil and myself. We all arrived at Point Blank Music College in London at midday. We then walked through the college to the meeting room where we had the discussion about creating a website for the Independence living programme Get-a-LifeStyle for young people between 14 – 19 years old preparing ourselves for leaving our foster families.
